Roy Nelson vs. Derrick Lewis Booked for UFC Fight Night 90 Co-Main Event

Derrick Lewis Withstands Early Adversity to Land the Bomb on Marcin Tybura at UFC Austin

Hard-hitting heavyweights Roy Nelson and Derrick Lewis have been calling each other out, and the two got what they wanted.

UFC announced on Friday that Nelson and Lewis would meet in the UFC Fight Night 90 co-main event on July 7 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Nelson (21-12) snapped a three-fight losing streak in his last outing by defeating Jared Rosholt by unanimous decision on Feb. 6. Ranked tenth in the big boy division, Nelson hopes to potentially inch back up the heavyweight ladder.

Lewis (15-4, 1 NC) is riding a three-fight winning streak and just cracked the top 15 rankings after his first-round knockout win over former title challenger Gabriel Gonzaga on April 10. The 31-year-old plans to add to his momentum with a win over “Big Country.”

UFC Fight Night 90: dos Anjos vs. Alvarez takes place on July 7 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos puts his title on the line for the third time when he faces second-ranked Eddie Alvarez in the main attraction. The event airs exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
