One of the best parts of the lead-up to the season is programs getting the makeup of their rosters situated. There is a lot of attrition in college football with players coming and going. Often that means there are a few scholarships to give out to get a program to its allotted limit of 85.

It’s always a special moment when a scholarship is awarded to a walk-on. We’ve highlighted a few fun ones over the last few weeks, but there have been a bunch of videos that we haven’t put on the blog. They really never get old, so why not share a few more? And if there are any we missed, hit us up on Twitter.

Notre Dame: Austin Webster became the first walk-on in Irish history to be named a captain. Now the wide receiver is on scholarship for his senior season.

Georgia State: Jamal Paxton played defensive line his first two seasons and now has moved into a second-string role on offense at center.

“He exemplifies everything we want to be as a team this year,” coach Shawn Elliott said.

Hawaii continues to be unique with its scholarship reveals, and this one for junior defensive lineman Zeno Choi was no different. It involved a popular K-Pop group and a lot of planning.

Utah‘s Jordan Howard has been through a lot to get to this point. A senior running back, Howard was shot in the eye as a 16-year-old, but has still managed to play at the highest level of college football. Now he’s on scholarship.

Washington State linebacker Nate DeRider was asked by coach Mike Leach to tell his teammates what it’s like to compete as a walk-on. Then, in true Leach style, he broke the news to the fifth-year senior with 24 career games under his belt.

“Well, you’re not a walk-on anymore.” Perfect.

Western Kentucky coach Mike Sanford had Coco Darden lead the team in some warmups, but before the team dispersed for drills, Sanford had good news for Darden, who is from nearby Russellville, Kentucky.

Tennessee tight end Eli Wolf followed his brother Ethan Wolf to Knoxville to play for the Vols. Coach Butch Jones called on the two to go head-to-head in practice, but as the two geared up for the drill, Jones revealed the happy news.

“I was thinking about putting (Ethan) on his butt,” Eli said. “The last thing I was thinking about was getting on scholarship.”

Houston defenders Alexander Myres and Roman Brown were the recipients of scholarships from coach Major Applewhite. Myres even got to sign his scholarship papers while leaning on Applewhite’s back. The team had awesome reactions for these guys, too.

Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson kept things a little more low key than some other coaches, but it was still awesome to see him give our four scholarships in one video.

Texas has a lot of kids that grow up wanting to play for the Longhorns, so this was a truly special moment for lineman Garrett Graf. Oh, and his moment included a magician.

USF coach Charlie Strong loved the effort of linebacker Greg Reaves in the weight room, so he decided Thursday would be a good time to put the junior on scholarship.
