Romeo Beckham, the son of David Beckham, is training with Brentford’s B team.

The 20-year-old is contracted to Inter Miami, the club co-owned by his father, but is currently in England and has been invited to spend some time at the Premier League side.

Brentford B operate with an unusual model which means they do not play in a competitive league. This means they have much more flexibility than other teams when it comes to fixtures and training.

Telegraph Sport understands, for example, that it is not uncommon for around a dozen unaffiliated players and trialists to train with the B side in any given month.

Beckham is not thought to be on an official trial at Brentford, and there is no sense that a permanent move to the west London club could be imminent.

Beckham plays for Inter Miami II, the American club’s reserve side, in the MLS Next Pro division, which is the third-tier of the US football pyramid.

Their season ended last month, with Beckham finishing the 2022 regular campaign as the joint-top assist provider in the division. In 20 appearances, the winger provided 10 assists, along with two goals.

In July, he scored a long-range free-kick that was remarkably reminiscent of his father. From around 30 yards, left of centre, he curled the ball over the wall and into the corner of the net (watch video below).

Earlier this year, Beckham played briefly for the Inter Miami senior side in a friendly against Barcelona. Head coach Phil Neville – David Beckham’s former Manchester United team-mate – brought Beckham and his own son, Harvey, onto the pitch as substitutes in the 6-0 defeat. Neville later insisted that both players had “earned the right to play” in the game.

Beckham has previously played in Arsenal’s academy, from 2014 to 2015, and also showed promise as a tennis player as a teenager.
