Roger Goodell: Playoff expansion still under consideration

The NFL will talk about whether to expand its playoffs at an upcoming May 20 meeting, league commissioner Roger Goodell told Newsday's Bob Glauber.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in Atlanta. Playoff expansion has been a hot topic this offseason, as the league could potentially add two more teams to the mix.

This would eliminate first-round byes for the No. 2 seeds in a 14-team playoff.

It's likely that at some point in the near future the NFL does in fact expand its postseason. It could very well be unlikely that it goes into effect this year, however.
