RFA 2 Results: Gilbert Yvel Resurrected at 205

Resurrection Fighting Alliance held its second event on Friday night in Kearney, Neb., headlined by a showdown between Houston Alexander and Gilbert Yvel.

The bout marked Yvel’s second start at light heavyweight. The 35-year-old Pride and UFC veteran has rejuvenated his career thus far by moving down, scoring back-to-back victories.

After a slow start, Yvel knocked Alexander out in the waning moments of round one.

Fifty-year-old Maurice Smith proved that he’s still got plenty of gas left in the tank as well, dropping Jorge Cordoba with a head kick in the third round of their fight, scoring a knockout victory in Smith’s first fight in four years.

One of the top pound-for-pound women on the planet, Tara LaRosa was also part of Resurrection FA 2. She didn’t disappoint, submitting Kelly Warren with just one tick of the clock left in their three-rounder.
