Rex Ryan poses as media member, asks Julian Edelman if he's Patriots' QB this week

Rex Ryan’s seat might be a tad toasty, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to cool down his personality in the meanwhile.

The 1-2 Buffalo Bills are preparing for a big game on Sunday against the 3-0 New England Patriots, and the subject of who might play QB for the Pats has been a matter of major conjecture following the injuries to Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett. The possibility of wide receiver Julian Edelman takings snaps at QB even has been broached.

So Ryan didn’t miss the opportunity to have a little fun amid the Patriots’ uncertainty. The Buffalo-area media had a conference call with Edelman on Wednesday morning, and Ryan — aka “Walt Patulski from the Buffalo News” — jumped on the call incognito and asked an unsuspecting Edelman if he was going to start at quarterback.

Edelman’s answer was dry and banal, typical Patriots schlock when asked such things, and he clearly had no idea who “Walt” really was. But Rex just can’t pass up a chance to razz the Patriots, even when they’ve owned him in recent years.

Still, it was a fun little moment (a harmless one, too) and a sign that Ryan is still trying to keep his levity, even with a tough task at hand and his job perhaps in a bit of peril if the Bills don’t win more.
