Reports: Texas QB Quinn Ewers out 4-6 weeks with clavicle sprain sustained vs. Alabama

Quinn Ewers is expected to miss significant time with the injury that knocked him out of Saturday's loss to No. 1 Alabama.

The Texas quarterback has sustained multiple sprains of his SC joint and will be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel and Rivals' Anwar Richardson. The injury is to his non-throwing shoulder.

It occurred in the first quarter of Alabama's 20-19 win in Austin. Linebacker Dallas Turner hit Ewers after a pass and drove his left shoulder into the turf. Ewers left the game and didn't return.

Alabama led 10-3 at the time. Ewers had completed 9 of 12 passes for 134 yards. Sophomore Hudson Card, whom Ewers beat out for the starting job, took over and completed 14 of 22 passes for 158 yards.

Texas took a 13-10 lead early in the third quarter and held the advantage for much of the second half. The Longhorns wouldn't find the end zone again as they settled for field goals on three second-half drives that advanced inside the Alabama 25-yard line. Alabama's Will Reichard kicked the winning field goal with 10 seconds remaining.

Per the reported timeline, Ewers would miss games against UT-San Antonio, Texas Tech and West Virginia at a minimum. The earliest he would return would be Oct. 8 for the Red River rivalry game against Oklahoma.
