Report: Yankees, Red Sox nearing deal to play regular season games in London

The Yanks are invading Britain. So too are the Red Sox, apparently.

Bloomberg reported on Monday that the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are nearing a deal to play a pair of regular season games in London in June 2019.

Bloomberg cites sources who say final details of the deal are still being worked out, but that the goal is to play the games in London Stadium, built as the Olympic Stadium for the 2012 Games. It now hosts the Premier League’s West Ham United.

Major League Baseball did not respond to Bloomberg’s inquiries.

MLB has staged games in Tokyo and Mexico, but these would be the first MLB games played in Europe, where NFL games are played annually.

But unlike the NFL, MLB appears ready to give London a matchup worth watching.
