One day after life returned to normal for William Nylander as he returned to the ice for the Toronto Maple Leafs, he appears to have gotten in a car accident.

Stephanie Smyth of CP24 is reporting that the 22-year-old was in a crash this morning, along with Maple Leafs teammate Kasperi Kapanen, near the team’s practice facility in the west end of the city.

At this time it’s unclear which player was behind the wheel during the crash, but both players are reportedly OK. The two were on the ice with their Maple Leafs teammates for today’s practice at 12 pm.

Nylander returns to Toronto on the heels of a lengthy contract holdout, which went down to the wire and was signed just before Saturday’s 5 pm deadline. The young forward eventually agreed to a six-year, US$45-million deal with the Maple Leafs.

Nylander made his 2018-19 debut with the Leafs in Thursday night’s 5-4 OT loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
