With the Toronto Maple Leafs working on negotiating a long-term extension for Mitch Marner, several teams have reached out in an ostensible effort to pry the star forward away, according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas and Marner’s agent, Darren Ferris, remain in daily discussions regarding an extension, Dreger reports.

Marner is a restricted free agent and is looking for a massive payday that would place him alongside the NHL’s highest-paid wingers.

The 22-year-old led the Maple Leafs in scoring for the second consecutive year in 2018-19, notching 26 goals and 94 points.

Toronto extended qualifying offers to Marner, Andreas Johnsson, Kasperi Kapanen and Michael Carcone on Tuesday.

Johnsson and Kapanen are expected to sign multi-year extensions with the team once Marner’s negotiations come to an end, while the Leafs’ star remains hotly coveted by his current team and a host of several unnamed suitors.
