In sitdown interview with Ryan Shazier's dad, TV station reports that Steelers LB has feeling in legs

Updates on Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier’s health have been scarce in the month since he was carted off the field after suffering a frightening neck injury.

In part of a sitdown interview with Shazier’s father Vernon, WPXI reported that Shazier has feeling in his legs. Shazier was injured on a Monday night game Dec. 4 making a tackle against the Cincinnati Bengals. He underwent spinal stabilization surgery shortly after.

“He’s making progress daily. He’s a long way from where he was on that Monday night,” Vernon Shazier told WPXI.

Vernon Shazier was asked by Sylvester if Ryan was walking.

“I don’t want to go into a whole lot of his, you know, how he’s doing,” Vernon Shazier said.

Sylvester followed up by asking if Ryan was doing better.

“He’s much better. We agreed to keep his progress private until he’s ready to share where he’s at,” Vernon Shazier told WPXI.

Vernon Shazier did tell WPXI he believes his son will be able to play football again.

Vernon Shazier talked to WPXI about the night Ryan was injured and getting a phone call from him after he heard the news.

“He said ‘Daddy pray for me, I can’t feel my legs,’ ” Vernon said as he got emotional.
