Marco Di Vaio’s contract with the Montreal Impact expires in January, and after months of uncertainty regarding his future with the Impact, it now seems like the leading scorer in MLS has finally decided to remain in Montreal for another season.
Close friends of Di Vaio and sources within Bologna Football Club told Repubblica Bologna that Di Vaio has decided to postpone his return to Italy. Di Vaio was expected to take up a director role with the Emilia-Romagna club in January, but according to the Bologna newspaper, the 37-year-old is keen on staying on with Montreal in 2014.
The Impact are currently in Los Angeles getting set to take on the Galaxy on Wednesday. The Quebec club has yet to issue a statement on the matter. Di Vaio is currently tied for the league lead in goals with Mike Magee, with both netting 19 times this season.
