Report: Khabib Nurmagomedov is 'done' fighting in Nevada as response to suspension

Don’t expect Khabib Nurmagomedov to take a fight in the state of Nevada again. The 30-year-old is reportedly “done” with Nevada after he and members of his team were issued suspensions Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Nurmagomedov and two of his cornermen were issued suspensions following their actions after Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 229. After the fight, Nurmagomedov hopped the cage to go after someone in the stands. Two of Nurmagomedov’s cornermen got into a fight with McGregor while still in the cage.

As punishment, Nurmagomedov was fined $500,000 and suspended nine months. That can drop to six months if Nurmagomedov takes part in an anti-bullying PSA. Nurmagomedov’s two teammates were each fined $25,000 and received a year-long ban. McGregor received a $50,000 fine and a six-month suspension. Those suspensions were retroactive to UFC 229, which took place Oct. 6.

Nurmagomedov will not fight until his teammates’ suspensions are over. He’s reportedly targeting a return in November at Madison Square Garden, according to Helwani.
