Off-the-court trouble seems to keep plaguing No. 3 Kansas, as guards Josh Jackson and Lagerald Vick are persons of interest in a Lawrence police investigation into the early December vandalism of a car, the Kansas City Star reported Thursday, citing multiple sources.

The reported crime occurred early on Dec. 9 outside of a bar, according to the Star, which cites a police report categorizing $2,991 in damages to the car as a felony. Investigators recently interviewed several who witnessed the reported crime.

From the Star:

Police were called to a parking lot near the Yacht Club on Wisconsin Street just before 2 a.m., according to the report. Officers spoke with the victim, who is the same female student a KU investigation found Vick likely hit in the arm multiple times and kicked in the face in late 2015. A phone number for that student has been disconnected and an attorney for the family has not returned multiple phone calls for comment.

Lawrence police have not named suspects in the vandalism. Officers are still investigating, and continue to add information to the initial report, even as late as Wednesday. Police only released the first page of the report.

Jackson is the Jayhawks’ second-leading scorer and rebounder, at 19.9 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.

Vick is the same player whom the Star reported Monday was the subject of a school investigation that concluded Vick likely hit a female student multiple times in a late 2015 incident. Vick, a sophomore averaging 7.1 points and 3.2 rebounds, was not charged with a crime, and it was unclear if a police report was ever filed.

The latest news surrounding Vick only adds to what has been a string of negative headlines in the past week, as reports surfaced last week that school police are investigating an alleged rape at McCarthy Hall, a dorm that houses the men’s hoops team and roughly 20 other students. Vick was among five Jayhawks players named as witnesses in the police report.

Additionally, forward Carlton Bragg was suspended indefinitely by coach Bill Self last week after being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Bragg was granted diversion Wednesday.
