Yahoo Sports Jamal Murray fined $25K for striking Tim Hardaway Jr. in the groin
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray was fined $25,000 for striking Dallas Mavericks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. in the groin during Monday’s game, the NBA announced Wednesday.
The incident took place in the third quarter of the contest, a 117-113 win by the Nuggets. Murray and Hardaway made contact on the play, sending Murray to the ground. As Murray was getting up, he looped his arm between Hardaway’s leg, and appeared to make contact with Hardaway’s groin intentionally.

Murray was charged with a flagrant foul and ejected from the contest.
Following the contest, Nuggets coach Michael Malone said he hadn’t seen the play, but that the refs told him it was “fairly obvious.” Hardaway said he believed Murray was frustrated after he didn’t get a foul call. Hardaway added that the incident didn’t matter since the Mavericks lost the contest.
Nuggets surging after slow start
Monday’s win extended the Nuggets’ streak to four games. The team struggled early, starting the season 1-4. They’ve gotten it together lately, going 9-3 over their last 12 contests.
Murray has been a big part of that. Through 16 games, he’s averaging a career high 19.3 points per game. The Nuggets are currently 10-7, and sit in fourth place in the Western Conference.
