Three-time NHL All-Star Ilya Kovalchuk has his sights set on the west coast.

The former Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy winner sat down for a visit with the Los Angeles Kings on Friday and is scheduled to meet with the San Jose Sharks on Sunday according to TSN’s Darren Dreger.

The former first-overall pick would be a great potential fit for either of the two clubs, but the Kings may be the most in need of his services. Last season, no left-winger on their team finished with more than 40 points.

Kovalchuk, 35, is now five-years removed from playing in the National Hockey League, but he has posted impressive numbers with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL. Last season, the talented winger finished with 31 goals and 63 points in 35 games.

J.P. Barry, the Olympic gold medallist’s agent, reportedly plans on getting his client a multi-year deal.

Kovalchuk is free to negotiate and come to terms on a contract at any time, but he can not officially ink a deal with a club until July 1st.

In 816 career NHL games, the former Thrasher and Devil has recorded 417 goals and 816 points.
