Yahoo Sports Report: Buccaneers lose wideout Mike Evans for rest of season with hamstring injury
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 14 came with a price. Star wide receiver Mike Evans is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury he suffered during the contest, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.

Evans was injured on his only catch of the day. Near the end of the first quarter, Evans beat his man deep and hauled in a 61-yard touchdown. At the end of the run, Evans hopped awkwardly to evade a tackle and limped into the end zone. He left the game following the play and was unable to return.
The 26-year-old Evans was in the midst of yet another strong season for the Bucs. In 13 games, Evans caught 67 passes for 1,157 yards and eight touchdowns. He’ll finish the year with those numbers barring an “unexpected improvement” from that injury, according to Fowler.
At 6-7, the Bucs haven’t been eliminated from playoff contention, but their chances are slim. Even if they win out and go 9-7, the Bucs would need a lot of help from other NFC teams to get in.
Because of that, Evans’ injury will mostly impact fantasy teams. With the fantasy playoffs in full swing, a number of teams will be without their top wide receiver with the championship on the line.
While the injury is expected to keep Evans out the rest of this year, it shouldn’t impact his offseason schedule. That’s a good thing for the Bucs, as Evans signed a five-year, $82.5 million extension with the team in 2018.
