Redskins' golf tournament loses sponsor

National Football Post

The National Indian Gaming Association pulled its sponsorship from a golf tournament hosted by a Washington Redskins foundation due to issues it has with the team's name, and more specifically, the new foundation the organization recently founded.

The Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation hosted a celebrity golf tournament Saturday, to which the National Indian Gaming Association decided to no longer be a part of.

Speaking to USA Today, Ernest Stevens, Chairman of The National Indian Gaming Association, voiced his displeasure with owner Dan Snyder's foundation.

"It's a blatant attempt to try to buy out the issue," Stevens told the newspaper.

Recently, Sen. Harry Reid (D-Nev.) bashed the organization over the use of the word Redskins. However, almost a year ago, Snyder said the franchise will never change the team's name.
