Yahoo Sports Rays pitcher Tyler Zombro shares video of recovery following brain surgery caused by line drive
Tampa Bay Rays minor league pitcher Tyler Zombro has made incredible progress since being hit in the head with a line drive in June. Zombro shared an encouraging message and video Thursday thanking fans for their support.
Zombro, 26, shared four tweets Thursday. The first two feature pictures of Zombro's head post-brain surgery. One of them shows all the staples currently in Zombro's head. The other shows Zombro sitting in his hospital bed with a bloody bandage on his head.
The third tweet features video of Zombro walking in the hospital. He's flanked by medical professionals, one of which has to hold all the devices to which Zombro is attached. Another is making sure Zombro is steady on his feet. Zombro is able to walk without help in the video.

The final post features Zombro in his hospital bed saying he plans to return to the field soon. Zombro's full message throughout all four posts read:
"Unbelievably grateful to be in the situation I’m currently in with the incredible help from @DukeHospital & staff. To all of you that have showered my family and I with positive thoughts, I have no doubt that all of the prayer support kept God with me throughout that night, as I’m in a very fortunate position all things considered. The outpouring support and prayer has meant the world to Moriah and I, and I certainly believe you guys have well wished me to an enhanced recovery.
"To @raysbaseball and @durhambulls I cannot thank you guys enough for treating me the way you have, as this is what makes our organization so special. In optimistic news: I’ve never been the fastest on the field so I may have gotten a boost after this surgery.

Tyler Zombro hit in head with line drive
Zombro was hit in the head by a line drive during a June 3 game against the Norfolk Tides. The game was suspended following Zombro's injury. He was taken to the hospital, where doctors said he was in stable condition.
Zombro was released from the hospital June 9. At the time, the team said Zombro would need to undergo "outpatient occupational and speech therapy."
Despite everything he's been through, Zombro intends to continue his baseball career once he's fully recovered.
