Ravens re-sign Terrence Cody, bring in Justin Forsett

The Ravens added depth to two positions on Friday by signing running back Justin Forsett and re-signing nose tackle Terrence Cody.

Forsett will reunite with offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak, who was his head coach in Houston during the 2012 season. He'll likely serve in a backup role if he makes the 53-man roster, and could get some playing time if Ray Rice is in fact suspended by the NFL due to his ongoing legal matter.

"I definitely have a chip on my shoulder the size of Texas that I want to get off, and I’m excited about this opportunity," Forsett said during his introductory press conference on Friday. "I want to come play and I want to win.”

Cody was a second-round pick by the organization in 2010, but hasn't lived up to potential. Cody had 15 combined tackles as a backup during the 2013 season. He was signed to a one-year deal.

Cody had offseason hip surgery a year ago and wasn't 100 percent last season.

“I can be a lot better now that I’m full-go and actually healthy for the first time in a while," Cody said. "There are going to be a lot of good things this year.”

These two moves followed Baltimore's signing of tight end Owen Daniels on Thursday. Daniels signed a one-year deal that has a reported $2 million max value.

Soon after the Texans hired Bill O'Brien to be their new head coach, Daniels was released.

"I wasn’t good enough for [Houston] anymore, but I’m excited to be a part of this organization," Daniels said. "Like I said, I have ton of respect for how this team plays, the guys they have around and what they’ve done. There is no type of anxiety or anything like that. I’m excited to be on board."
