Raptors thank Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green with tribute video

On a day when the Toronto Raptors’ future was put into question, the team took a moment to reflect back on the past.

Hours after news broke that Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green will be taking their talents to the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers, Raptors president Masai Ujiri thanked both players for their crucial roles in bringing a championship to Toronto.

Echoing that sentiment, the Raptors organization followed suit with a tribute video to two stars who helped make history north of the border.

The video captures some of the best moments of the Raptors’ 2018-19 season, like “The Shot” that Kawhi drilled at the buzzer in Game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers. A few of Green’s clutch buckets from the playoffs and some big defensive stops highlighted his contribution to Toronto’s championship team.

The video is a wonderful recollection of Toronto’s championship run, but the Raptors aren’t spending too much time dwelling on what was. The team has already begun to shuffle its roster in the post-Kawhi era, signing Stanley Johnson to a two-year contract on Saturday afternoon.

Raptors fans are certainly disappointed with today’s developments, but as this tribute video reminds us, Kawhi and Green contributed to something special in Toronto.

And for that, Raptors fans should all be thankful.
