Kawhi Leonard receives standing ovation at Blue Jays game

Board Man Gets Paid and now Board Man Watches Jays.

Toronto belongs to Kawhi Leonard now, and fresh off celebrating the Raptors’ championship parade, the reigning NBA Finals MVP took in Thursday’s game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Angels, receiving a standing ovation.

Maybe Kawhi just wanted a look at one of the few athletes who could be called a true peer in Mike Trout, or maybe he’s just looking for ways to spend his time off.

Leonard received a second standing ovation after he was shown on the JumboTron, while Drake’s “Trophies” blared loudly in the background.

The Blue Jays could use any inspiration at this point, toiling along at a 57-win pace - or, one less than the 2018-19 Raptors who racked up 58 wins in approximately half the games.

Leonard’s strength, timing, and hand-eye coordination would make him an excellent fit on the diamond if he so pursued the game, but asking him to lead the Raptors to a title and save the Blue Jays is too demanding.

Kawhi certainly got involved in other ways, however, and took part in an engaging conversation with the Blue Jays bat boy.

With free agency on the horizon, Kawhi ought to receive a hero’s welcome wherever he goes, as the Raptors battle the Los Angeles Clippers among other suitors this summer. So far, so good.
