Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse has always been a natural storyteller, so it’s only fitting he’s taking his talents to the small screen.

Nurse will be featured in Monday’s episode of CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries, which is currently in its 15th season, and he couldn’t be more excited about his upcoming appearance.

"Pretty fun, pretty cool show," Nurse said ahead of the Raptors' Wednesday game against the Chicago Bulls.

Without spoiling the episode for you, Nurse told reporters on Wednesday that he will play a locker-room attendant and is open to criticism about his acting.

This isn’t Nurse’s acting debut and it’s clear that he has an affinity for Canadian network television. Nurse previously appeared in Global’s Private Eyes during a December 2020 episode, and it seemed like he had a blast.

“It's not as easy as you'd think! You know, you've still got some lines that they want you to say and you gotta deliver them. You've got to do it several times over and over,” Nurse told Complex’s Alex Nino Gheciu in November 2020.

Nurse has cultivated a reputation as an affable storyteller and is one of the most media-friendly head coaches in the NBA. In addition to his television forays, Nurse has also been known to dabble in music. Back in 2019, after the Raptors' championship title, Nurse joined the Canadian band Arkells on stage for a cover of Stevie Wonder's 'Signed, Sealed, Delivered.'

Admittedly, on short notice, I did not watch Nurse’s appearance in Private Eyes (Coach, if you're reading this, I'm sorry). But there’s something to be said about his earnest enthusiasm for acting — and how he's embraced so many aspects of Canadian pop culture.

Perhaps he’ll join the long list of basketball personalities who have found a second life in acting.
