Raptors coach Nick Nurse honors Craig Sager with wild wardrobe choice

A big game calls for some big style decisions.

Although the Warriors were without Steph Curry and Draymond Green, the Toronto Raptors clash with Golden State was one of the most hyped in the early portion of the NBA season. Toronto entered the game winners of six straight and atop the Eastern Conference standings while Golden State, well, they are Golden State.

(Seriously, what more is there to say than that?)

The contest fell during the NBA’s tribute to legendary basketball sideline reporter and personality Craig Sager, who lost his battle with cancer nearly two years ago.

Sager was known for his one-of-a-kind, electric sense of style. He and Canadian hockey broadcaster Don Cherry wore mesmerizing patterns on television before it was cool.

Initially, it looked like Shaquille O’Neal’s jacket might steal the show and that would have been fitting considering his hilarious interview with Sager during his playing days. In it, he described the reporter’s jacket as a combination or horrible and awful, or “horri-awful.

But then, kind of out of nowhere, the mighty Shaq was upstaged by the wicked blazer that Toronto head coach Nick Nurse pulled out of the back of his closet for the occasion.

Now, that is something else.

Whether or not those threads bring the Raptors the good fortune that they’re looking for to end an eight game losing streak against the Warriors that dates back to 2014 is still unknown. However, if Sager was still here to see it, you’d like to think Nurse’s fashion choice would get his full approval.
