Rape in Chhattisgarh is small compared to Hathras one: Congress leader

A video of Chhattisgarh Congress leader, Shiv Kumar Dahariya, has gone viral on social media networks where he is seen downplaying the rape of a 14-year-old minor girl in the state.

The child was drugged, raped and strangled.

“A small incident has happened here in our state and some people are asking us questions. The rape in Hathras is a bigger and more brutal one. Why are these people not talking about that?” said Dahariya, who is the Labour Minister in the Congress government in Chhattisgarh.

His insensitive statement was condemned by a large number of people for ‘defending’ the heinous crime that took place in his state by pitching it against another equally horrific incident that took place Uttar Pradesh, a state administered by the rival Bharatiya Janata Party government.
