Rangers vs. Lightning: Who you got?

With the Eastern Conference Final wrapping up tonight, we have analyzed the matchup and debated three reasons each on why the Lightning or Rangers will win the Prince of Wales Trophy.

Three reasons Rangers will win Game 7:

1. The 'St Louis effect'

Even though Martin St. Louis has mostly been a non-factor in the postseason thus far, the 39-year-old should definitely have extra motivation tonight in a chance to bury his former team. St Louis and Tampa Bay general manager Steve Yzerman didn't exactly have a clean breakup last year, and one can only imagine the feeling St Louis would have if he came out on top.

2. Redemption

After losing in last year's cup final, the Rangers have played with something to prove all season long. After winning the President's Trophy in the regular season with 113 points, New York has shown resilience in the postseason. They were two minutes from elimination in Game 5 of round two against the Capitals, and stormed all the way back to win the series in seven. They never give up; they rarely get fazed.

3. Home Cooking

One of the most famous arena's in the world has been traditionally difficult for road teams in Game 7s. The Rangers have never lost a game seven at home in their long history.

Three reasons Lightning will win Game 7:

1. Road Warriors

The Lightning have played some of their best hockey on the road in the playoffs, boasting an impressive 6-3 record away from Amalie Arena. Against the Rangers, Tampa Bay is 2-1 at Madison Square Garden and stands a good chance of coming away with one more victory to clinch the Eastern Conference crown.

2. Offensive Firepower

Tampa Bay led the league in scoring with 262 goals during the regular season and their scoring depth has continued to serve them well in the playoffs. The Bolts are perhaps the only club that have two number one lines in Killorn-Stamkos-Callahan and the "Triplet line" of Palat-Johnson-Kucherov. As a testament to Tampa's offensive depth, the top two scorers in the playoffs are both Lightning players, Johnson and Kucherov. It's worth noting that neither of those players are named Stamkos, who is fifth. Tampa's top-six have combined to score 41 goals and will be tough to contain in tonight's decisive encounter.

3. The 'Stamkos-era'

After seeing his team fall a game short of reaching the Stanley Cup Final in 2011, Stamkos will have some extra motivation in Game 7. "It's taken four years to get back, and you have to realize the magnitude of the game and the situation you're in, and really how close you are," Stamkos told NHL.com. "We're right back in the same position right now, so I'm excited about the opportunity of having a different result this time around." Expect Tampa's captain to be at his very best tonight.
