There are great catches, and then there’s what Texas Rangers minor league outfielder Eric Jenkins, currently playing with the Class A Down East Wood Ducks, did on Sunday.

This is an incredible catch all around.

It’s really impressive Jenkins, ranging over from his spot in left field at near full speed, knew exactly where he was. He reeled the catch in just before going over the fence, and he stuck the landing after his flip.

Jenkins then had the presence of mind to whip the ball back to the infield, not wasting a second. It’s a combination of terrific athleticism, concentration and awareness.

Jenkins was a second-round pick of the Rangers in 2015.

Jenkins, 21, has spent much of his young professional career with the Class A-Full Hickory Crawdads. After slashing .291/.339/.447 in 26 games for the Crawdads to open the season, he got called up to the Wood Ducks in the Class A-Advanced Carolina League on May 9. Jenkins is slashing .250/.301/.338 for Down East and has been struggling a bit at the plate over the last week or so, but with defense like that, he’ll have no problem remaining in the lineup.
