Rangers Bench Kaapo Kakko In Desperate Move

The New York Rangers made Kaapo Kakko a healthy scratch for their Sunday night game against the St. Louis Blues.

Kakko hadn’t been benched for the entirety of the 2024-25 season before Sunday night, so this move came as a surprise.

The decision to sit Kakko came after the Rangers had lost nine out of their last 12 games.

Kakko has also been the subject of some trade rumors as his absence in the lineup causes even more trade speculation.

The 23-year-old has recorded four goals, 10 assists and 14 points in 29 games while averaging 13:23 minutes.
