QMJHL Roundup: Shawn Element, Felix Lafrance lead Eagles past Sea Dogs 8-6

SYDNEY, N.S. — Shawn Element and Felix Lafrance had two goals and two assists apiece as the Cape Breton Eagles downed the Saint John Sea Dogs 8-6 on Wednesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action. 

Defenceman Nathan Larose and Ryan Francis each added a goal and two helpers for the Eagles (7-8-0), who also got goals from Connor Trenholm and Jarrett Baker. 

Joshua Roy and Brady Burns had a pair of goals apiece to pace the offence for the Sea Dogs (5-6-4), who entered the game 3-0-1 in their last four outings.

Dawson Stairs and Leighton Carruthers also found the back of the net.

William Grimard made 35 saves for Cape Breton, while Noah Patenaude turned away 26-of-33 shots for Saint John.



QUEBEC CITY — Remi Poirier stopped 22 shots and Kieran Craig had a goal and an assist as Gatineau (4-1-0) blanked Drummondville (3-1-1) to extend its win streak to three games.



CHARLOTTETOWN — Cedric Desruisseaux scored twice and set up one more, and Thomas Casey had a goal and two assists as the Islanders (12-2-0) topped Halifax (5-6-4) for their fourth win in a row.



QUEBEC CITY — Mikhail Abramov broke a 2-2 deadlock at 4:23 of overtime, extending his point streak to six games while lifting Victoriaville (5-1-0) over Chicoutimi (3-1-2).
