QMJHL Roundup: Remparts earn 4-2 victory over Wildcats

MONCTON, N.B. — Pier-Olivier Roy's late power-play goal proved to be the difference as the Québec Remparts defeated the Moncton Wildcats 4-2 on Wednesday.

Nicolas Savoie, James Malatesta and Daniel Agostino also scored for Québec (31-6-1-1). Quentin Miller made 22 saves.

Connor Trenholm and Alex Mercier replied for Moncton (21-15-0-2). Jacob Steinman stopped 36 shots.

Savoie opened the scoring 11:05 into the first period before both sides went quiet in the second. In the final 8:07 of the third, however, the two sides combined for five goals.

Trenholm knotted the contest at 11:53 before Agostino restored the Remparts's lead 42 seconds later. Roy's marker at 15:52 gave Quebec a two-goal edge.

Despite Mercier trimming the lead back down to one just 15 seconds after, the Wildcats failed to tie it as Malatesta added an empty netter with one second remaining.

SHAWINIGAN, QUE. — Rémi Delafontaine earned a 20-save shutout as Shawinigan (19-19-1-2) downed Val-d'Or (18-21-2). Leo Braillard, Jacob Lafontaine, Lorenzo Canonica and Kody Dupuis all scored for the Cataractes, who snapped a two-game skid.

CHICOUTIMI, QUE. — Félix Bédard scored what proved to be the winner as Chicoutimi (19-19-2) narrowly edged Saint John (13-23-1-1). The Sea Dogs held a 3-2 advantage over midway through the second period before the Sagueneens scored three unanswered to take a two-goal lead.
