QB Mike White, who started hot again for Jets, left game vs. Colts with injury

The New York Jets can't have nice things.

Quarterback Mike White was putting together a fun story. He had a huge game in an upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals this past Sunday. On Thursday night, he threw a first-quarter touchdown to Elijah Moore. He was shaping up to be the highlight of an otherwise dull game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Then he got injured.

White injured his hand or wrist when he was following through on a pass and hit Colts defensive lineman DeForest Buckner. He looked uncomfortable on the sideline trying to throw, went to the medical tent and Josh Johnson started warming up. After the Colts scored to take a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, Johnson started the next series and finished the game, which ended in a Colts rout, 45-30.

White waited a long time for his chance. He was a fifth-round draft pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 and never appeared in a regular season game before two weeks ago, when rookie quarterback Zach Wilson injured his knee. White threw a touchdown in that game, had 405 yards last week and after his touchdown pass on Thursday there was a lot of jokes (jokes, right?) about him replacing Wilson, the second pick of this year's draft.

But it's the Jets. Bad luck follows them around.
