Alex Ovechkin is 23 points away from becoming the 84th NHL player to reach 1,000 career points. With the Washington Capitals superstar set to hit that mark some time this season, the team has come up with a creative way to honor that milestone and future point-related ones.

As part of a holiday ticket package fans will receive this Ovechkin bobblehead.

That’s right. It also doubles a career points counter. Brilliant idea.

(Also nice touch on the bit of gray in Ovi’s hair. Attention to detail is important in bobbleheads, otherwise you get something like the Ken Daneyko bobblehead.)

Considering Ovi is also pretty good at putting pucks by goaltenders, the Capitals should probably come out with another bobblehead that allows you to track his goals scored. He’s currently at 532, and given his annual output, you’ll be busy on a regular basis updating the counter.
