The N.C. State football team will enter the season ranked No. 13 in the Associated Press top 25 preseason poll. The spot at No. 13 ties the 1975 team for the highest preseason ranking. The Wolfpack is the second highest ranked ACC team, following Clemson at No. 4.

The last time the Pack was ranked in the AP preseason poll was in 2003, when it started at No. 16.

N.C. State finished 9-3 last season and returns 10 starters on defense along with ACC preseason Player of the Year Devin Leary.

N.C. State ended the 2021 season ranked No. 20 in the final AP poll, peaking at No. 18 earlier in the season. The Pack spent 10 weeks in the AP top 25 poll last season.

Five ACC teams are ranked in the preseason poll, including Wake Forest at No. 22.
