Premier League pair identified by Real Madrid as ideal defensive signings

Real Madrid intend to address their defensive situation in the next couple of years. They are already short on centre-back options, although the position is no longer as dire as it once was because of the emergence of Raul Asencio, while David Alaba is also expected to return very soon.

Nevertheless, the fact that Alaba (32) and Antonio Rudiger (31) are now the wrong side of 30 means that the club will need to sign at least one successor soon, with Eder Militao (26) and Asencio (21) being the only younger options in the Real Madrid first team at this moment in time.

As per Relevo, Real Madrid’s ideal signing would be a young, left-sided centre-back, with two glamour options being Manchester City’s Josko Gvardiol and Micky van de Ven of Tottenham Hotspur. However, both are considered to be too expensive.

Instead, Real Madrid could opt for RB Leipzig’s Castello Lukeba, who has been scouted in recent months, while a younger alternative is Jorrel Hato of Ajax. It remains to be seen who is opted for, and when.
