Poulin scores late winner to lift Team Harvey's over Team Adidas at PWHPA Dream Gap Tour showcase

Marie-Philip Poulin did what she does best on Saturday.

The 31-year-old Canadian women's national hockey team star scored Team Harvey's winner with 3:20 to go in the final frame of a 4-3 victory over Team Adidas at the Professional Women's Hockey Players' Association's Dream Gap Tour showcase in Pittsburgh.

Poulin, Canada's captain, is known for coming through in the clutch, having scored Olympic gold-medal winning goals in Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014 and Beijing 2022.

Jessie Eldridge, Emily Clark and Jamie Lee Rattray also found the net for Team Harvey's.

Kendall Coyne Schofield and Laura Stacey, twice, replied for Team Adidas.

Johnston leads Team Scotiabank past Team Sonnet

Four-time Canadian Olympic medallist Rebecca Johnston led the way as Team Scotiabank defeated Team Sonnet 5-4 later on Saturday.

The 33-year-old from Sudbury, Ont., scored twice, including a highlight-reel end-to-end goal to tie the game in the third period.

Alex Carpenter gave Team Scotiabank a 1-0 lead in the first period, but Alexa Vasko responded for Team Sonnet with the second-period equalizer.

The wild seven-goal third period saw back-and-forth action with both teams firing on all cylindres.

Erin Ambrose went top shelf to give Team Sonnet the momentary lead early in the period, but Johnston tied it up with an incredible goal. The former Cornell Big Red forward carried the puck out of her own end and deked around defender Micah Zandee-Hart before firing the puck top corner for the 3-2 lead.

Hannah Brandt tied the game with less than five minutes left, but Team Scotiabank answered once again with defender Jaime Bourbonnais scoring the go-ahead goal on the power play. Johnston added the insurance marker for the 5-3 lead with two minutes to go.

Vasko scored her second goal of the game with 0.1 seconds left.

The PWHPA Dream Gap Tour women's hockey showcase in Pittsburgh continues on Sunday. Team Scotiabank will face Team Harvey's at 11 a.m. ET, followed by Team Sonnet against Team Adidas at 2 p.m. ET.

The season closes with an all-star event on Dec. 11 at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, in partnership with the Senators. The event will see the top players from the PWHPA compete in a skills competition and three-on-three tournament.

The PWHPA's mission is to establish a viable professional women's ice hockey league in North America that showcases the greatest product of women's professional ice hockey in the world.
