Popular Wichita children’s attraction closes for remodeling

Though the beginning of summer may seem like an odd time to close a children’s attraction for remodeling, that’s what Annie and Jon Becker are doing with their Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park on the west side.

The two were the first Urban Air franchisees in 2014 when they opened at 8545 W. Irving, near Kellogg and Tyler.

“Now we are doing a full remodel and full attraction upgrade,” Annie Becker said.

She said they would have preferred to close more like April and May, but they’re closing for June and July instead.

“It really kind of came down to when contractors could get everything done,” Becker said. “We’ve just kind of had to go with it.”

She said it’s not that bad given that a lot of families choose outside activities this time of year anyway.

“Actually, our biggest months are . . . more the colder weather season.”

They plan to reopen in August not only with upgrades but with new activities as well.

There will be a ninja warrior course, rock climbing walls and a sky coaster to fly around the rafters, among other things.

The Beckers also own Urban Air parks in Lincoln, Neb., and Springfield, Mo. They’re also bringing a Goldfish Swim School franchise to Wichita next year.

“We’re really excited for the reopening to come back with just a big facelift for one,” Annie Becker said, “but to really blow the socks off everybody.”
