Pizza Hut customers are freaking out over the chain's ‘gross’ new menu item: ‘A poor effort’

Nothing says holiday season like … Christmas pizza?

That’s the motto behind Pizza Hut’s latest menu item. The limited-edition order, available only in the U.K., is a full English holiday meal wrapped in one saucy, cheesy package.

Pizza Hut U.K. announced the item in early November, along with a full list of ingredients. The “Christmas pizza” features rotisserie chicken, bacon, sage, onion stuffing and a base comprised of red wine gravy.

Obviously, holiday foods (and pizzas, for that matter) differ from country to country, but even customers in the U.K. seem confused by the item. Some were critical of the pizza on Twitter, calling it “gross” and “wrong.”

“Very upset about the lack of cranberry sauce and sausages. A poor effort really,” one Twitter user wrote.

“Pizza really has taken a few bad turns since it left Italy,” another added.

On the other hand, some said the pizza looked “amazing,” and a few even shared photos proving they’d ordered it.

Christmas pizza may be a new concept for many fast-food fans, but Pizza Hut announcing out-there menu items? That’s more than a yearly tradition.

In 2020 alone, Pizza Hut has announced a ramen pizza in Taiwan and an Ikea-themed pizza in Hong Kong, just to name a few.

Here's why the Salehe Bembury and New Balance collaboration sneaker is one of this season's hottest drops:
