Stunning, rare bird spotted amid lockdown
With humans in lockdown around the world, the animal kingdom seems to be having a field day. Days after a video of a peacock on Mumbai's streets went viral, social media is now agog with photos of another exotic creature.
A ’stork-billed kingfisher', a large tree-dwelling bird found in the tropical Indian subcontinent has now made its way to social media.
No adulteration. Straight from the nature's brush. Stork-Billed #Kingfisher. Another click of mine. pic.twitter.com/hA9JWtMF8y

The bird is tough to sight even in the most ideal of settings, but Parveen Kaswan, an Indian Forest Service personnel, recently posted an image of this rare species on his social media handle on Wednesday. The bird is indeed a large one and measures around 35 cm in length.
Absolutely stunning picture of a Stork-billed Kingfisher by @ParveenKaswan. One of perhaps 2 Indian kingfisher species I haven't been lucky enough to see in real life (the other is the Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher). pic.twitter.com/2SVQwh1mdF

The picture is being widely circulated and cheered on various social media platforms, mostly as a reminder of the many positive effects the lockdown seems to be having on the environment.
