Unfortunately for the Raptors 905, their season came to an early end Tuesday.
Twelve months on from winning its inaugural developmental-league title, Raptors 905 failed to repeat the feat, falling to the Austin Spurs in Game 2 of the NBA G League final Tuesday.
The 98-76 result secured the three-game series for the Spurs, who added a second championship to go along with their 2012 triumph. Austin’s Nick Johnson was awarded Finals MVP after scoring 17 points while Raptors’ two-way player and G League 2018 MVP Lorenzo Brown posted an 11-point, 10-assist double-double.

Lorenzo Brown accepts his G League MVP award. Brown averaged 18.8 points and 8.9 assists during the 2017-18 season, leading the 905 to a second straight finals appearance. Yahoo Sports confirmed after the game that the Toronto Raptors plan to sign Brown for the remainder of the NBA season.
The 905 opened the game firing first to an 8-3 lead, but trailed 28-18 by the end of the first quarter.
Although Toronto struggled to keep up with the Spurs’ pace in the first half, trailing by double digits for the majority of the second quarter, the 905 entered halftime only eight point adrift.
The 905 calls a timeout with 8:29 left in the fourth quarter. Despite cutting the lead down to single digits to start the period, the Spurs went on an 8-2 run to open up a 15-point lead.
