Skiing on a torn ACL is tough. Skiing moguls on a torn ACL is mind-blowing.

After tearing his knee ligament less than a month ago, Canada’s Philippe Marquis somehow still qualified for the moguls finals at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. But his dreams came crashing down (literally) on the first run when he landed hard on the injured joint, took a tumble, and had to accept a ‘Did Not Finish’.

After Friday’s run, Marquis showed off his inspirational reminders on the slopes. The words ‘Keep Fighting’ were printed on his left glove strap, and ‘What ACL?’ on the right strap. And when Marquis gripped his pole handles, he saw the printed words ‘Engage’ and ‘Fire’ on the top of both gloves.

Marquis, who also competed in Sochi, became a Canadian favourite when he announced he was still competing despite his injury. After the crash early Monday, Canadians dealt out support for his effort.
