Flyers' Travis Konecny out indefinitely with concussion
The Philadelphia Flyers will be missing one of the major reasons why they’re set to make the playoffs for the first time in two years as Travis Konecny is out indefinitely.
Konecny was injured after a hard hit from Ottawa Senators defenceman Mark Borowiecki on Saturday night.
Two days later, the team announced that he suffered a concussion and will be out for the foreseeable future.
INJURY UPDATES:
Forward Travis Konecny has a concussion. He is out indefinitely.
Forward Joel Farabee will not practice today (wisdom teeth removed).
Forward Oskar Lindblom will not practice today (maintenance).— Philadelphia Flyers (@NHLFlyers) December 9, 2019
In the same tweet, the Flyers announced that rookie Joel Farabee and forward Oskar Lindblom will take the day off before facing the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday. Both are assumed to be ready for the mid-week contest.
Konecny leads the Flyers in scoring with 11 goals and 28 points through 30 games this season. He has never missed a major amount of time — he’s been out a total of three games his last two seasons — but he will likely be out for a significant amount of time because of his concussion.
