Peter Laviolette Reveals Why He Was Late To Postgame Interview After Reported Meeting With Management
Last night following the New York Rangers’ 5-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils, Peter Laviolette took an unusually long time to arrive for his postgame press conference.
Usually, Laviolette comes right away, but on Monday night, the media waited for approximately 15-20 minutes before he finally showed up to give his remarks.
During the long wait, there was a sense of confusion and intrigue among media members as this sort of instance has never occurred this season and it came at a time where the Rangers are struggling in every way imaginable.
Laviolette ultimately addressed why he was late.
“That was just some meetings in the room,” Laviolette said. “That’s all.”
Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reported that those meetings Laviolette is talking about involved both coaches and management.
During the postgame press conference, nothing seemed off and no bombshells were released about what exactly transpired during the meeting.
Aside from the Rangers’ struggles, there is no real indication right now to believe that Laviolette is actually on the hot seat especially considering that he is in the middle of season two of a three-year contract, fresh off of a trip to the Eastern Conference Final.
The Rangers have lost six out of their past seven games though, so Laviolette will have a lot to figure out moving forward.
