Arizona Coyotes forward Peter Holland was fined $3,611.11, the maximum allowed under the collective bargaining agreement, for punching Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ondrej Palat last Saturday.

The play happened at the 9:05 mark of the second period in the Coyotes’ 5-3 win, after Palat drilled hit Holland along the boards. Holland didn’t seem to like the play, dropped his gloves and quickly punched Palat in the face.

A scrum then ensued between the two teams and Holland received a minor penalty for roughing. Above is a screen shot of Holland’s punch on Palat.

Coyotes analyst Tyson Nash noted, “That’s a great hit there by Palat” who was not penalized for the hit or for anything that happened in the ensuing scrum.
