Pedestrian killed by Amtrak train near Fresno City College. The person died at the scene

A pedestrian was stuck and killed by a train Thursday afternoon in central Fresno.

Fresno Police said the collision happened at 3:15 p.m. near Fresno City College.

Police said the collision occurred on the railroad tracks, north of Clinton Avenue, east of Maroa Avenue.

The Amtrak was traveling northbound when the pedestrian was struck, police said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Amtrak spokeswoman Olivia Irvin said the train originated from Bakersfield and was headed to Oakland with 182 passengers or crew onboard when the incident occurred.
