Paul Finebaum is staying with ESPN and the SEC Network
Paul Finebaum is not leaving the pastures of the SEC and ESPN for another network or conference.
The longtime SEC personality is staying with ESPN, the network announced on Friday. Finebaum’s contract expired this summer and a report emerged that the Big Ten and Fox could be interested in his services.
Finebaum is perhaps the media member most associated with the SEC, so a move to talk about a different conference would take a serious adjustment. And cause some heartache for the legions of, uh, unique people that call into his show on a daily or weekly basis.
“I’m thrilled to be a member of the ESPN family and look forward to continuing our show on SEC Network,” Finebaum said in a statement. “I consider myself incredibly blessed to do this every day, and I’d like to thank everyone at ESPN, as well as all of our loyal listeners and viewers, for their support.”
Finebaum moved to ESPN and the SEC Network when the network launched in the summer of 2013. His afternoon radio show is simulcast on the SEC Network and he makes various appearances on ESPN shows, especially during college football season.
