Patrick Marleau puts Toronto home up for sale

The coming separation between the Toronto Maple Leafs and veteran forward Patrick Marleau has reached the next stage of inevitability.

After a few days of trade rumours ramping up that the Maple Leafs were honouring Marleau’s wishes to be relocated closer to his family in California, the Toronto Star is now reporting that his home in Toronto is for sale.

The 39-year-old Marleau’s breathtaking abode is listed at an asking price of $11.888 million, according to the listing.

“Nestled on an affluent and prestigious Toronto neighborhood, this quintessential home is set upon lush topography,” the listing boasts.

The five-bedroom, seven-bathroom, eight-fireplace mansion includes a “chef’s dream” kitchen, an indoor pool, and of course a rink.

There’s a video tour included with the listing if you’re interested in rubbernecking around the property but don’t have the nearly $12-million required to make a competitive offer.

Entering the final year of his three-year, $18.75 million deal, Marleau and his family have been heavily rumoured to prefer to return to the California area, where he spent 19 seasons with the San Jose Sharks.
