Patrick Mannelly blasts Chicago Bears organization
With the Chicago Bears' 2024 season nearing a merciful end, evaluations are ongoing from the public, including former players of the franchise. After starting the season 4-2 heading into their bye week, the Bears have lost an embarrassing seven games in a row, which has led to a change at both offensive coordinator and head coach, which has led to questions about the overall state of the organization.
Veteran long snapper Patrick Mannelly, who spent 15 seasons with the Bears and is the longest tenured player in franchise history, questioned if anyone has done their job well this season. Appearing on the 'Bernstein & Harris Show' on 670 The Score in Chicago, Mannelly says the issue of control and power has been ongoing for 12 years.
"It's been that way for the last 12 years, I think. It starts with George [McCaskey] and now we have a new person in Kevin [Warren], what is his role exactly?" Mannelly said. "That press conference was a little bit uncomfortable to me with Ryan Poles, looking like a kid looking at his dad. But the other thing is, you talk about who is really in charge? Here's the other thing, from top down, who is doing well at their job?"
.@PatrickMannelly on Bears: "From the top down, Kevin Warren included, who is doing well at their job? Kevin was brought here to deal with the stadium. Is that going well? It doesn't seem like it.
"It doesn't seem like anybody ... is doing well."

Mannelly singled out Warren and the thing he was brought here to do: Build a new stadium, for which there remains no clear direction.
"Kevin was brought here to deal with the stadium, right?" Mannelly said. "Is that going well? Doesn't seem like it. It doesn't seem like anybody from the top all the way down, is doing well. There's a lot of people that need to be pointing the fingers at themselves to get this right. Everybody in the building is not doing a good enough job."
It's hard to argue with Mannelly's point looking at from top to bottom of the Bears organization. Many believe the team should've and could've broken ground already for a new stadium, potentially in Arlington Heights. But there has been a three-sided war with the team, Arlington Heights, and the city of Chicago over several different factors.
The biggest business deal around the franchise has been a catastrophe around them, and the product on the field has been far worse this year. With so much hype, optimism, and hope coming into the 2024 season, the Bears have absolutely fallen flat from both the football and business side of things, making it nothing more than an embarrassment this year.
