Panthers place Christian McCaffrey on Injured Reserve after hamstring setback

Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey will miss at least the next three games due to a hamstring injury. McCaffrey was placed on Injured Reserve on Saturday after sustaining a hamstring setback during practice.

The move ensures McCaffrey will miss three games. He's eligible to return for the team's game against the New England Patriots in Week 9. Chuba Hubbard will likely see the majority of the carries with McCaffrey sidelined.

McCaffrey originally sustained the injury during the team's Week 3 game against the Houston Texans. He was not placed on Injured Reserve initially, and had participated in practices. There was some hope McCaffrey would return from the injury in Week 6, but he was not able to practice Thursday or Friday after dealing with a setback following Wednesday's practice.

After starting the season 3-0, the Panthers have dropped their last two contests. The team will look to turn that around in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings, who are 2.5-point favorites at BetMGM.
