Out again: One week after return, Adrian Peterson to miss Vikings' game vs. Packers

Maybe those stories about another miraculous Adrian Peterson recovery were a bit premature.

Peterson played against the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday, his first game since undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus in mid-September. He wasn’t very effective – he picked up just 22 yards on six carries (though that is in keeping with his pre-surgery ineffectiveness), but not many Vikings players were in the 34-6 loss.

Earlier this week, Peterson said he wanted to play at Lambeau Field as Minnesota faces NFC North rival Green Bay, but was unsure if he would be able to do so. Listed on the practice report due to his knee and a groin injury, he said he was taking things “day by day” this week.

But on Friday, the Vikings officially declared Peterson out for Saturday’s game.

It’s fair to wonder if last Sunday was Peterson’s final game with Minnesota. The 30-year old’s base salary for next year is slated to be $11.75 million, and he also has a $6 million roster bonus due on March 11.
