Orioles' Davis awarded slam after video review

The Associated Press

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis was awarded a grand slam after a video replay showed his drive struck the foul pole.

Davis hit an opposite-field shot down the left-field line in the third inning on Tuesday night, and reached second base. Tampa Bay Rays outfielder David DeJesus ran hard into a low fence near the foul pole while chasing the ball.

A video review that lasted 1 minute, 18 seconds revealed that the ball hit the pole a few feet above the wall, and Davis was given a home run.
